Crochet: Something Finished
A new cardi for Lulu
Hello. I feel like the past few weeks have passed in a blur; my days have been full of work, crochet, illness and the everyday dramas such as lost school shoes/jumpers/coats and forgotten appointments/lunches/PE kits - I'm counting down the days till half term already ;)
But amongst the chaos, in that precious hour before finally falling into bed, I've been working on the sweetest cardigan for Lulu...
I bought the pattern for this Fair Isle cardigan last winter from Ball Hank N' Skein on Etsy I fell in love with the grey and yellow version and knew I had to try it. I was finally prompted to make it when I ordered some lovely Artesano Aran (50% Superfine Alpaca, 50% Peruvian Highland Wool) to try. I knew this wool was a bit special and I loved the colours so before another winter came and went I made a start.
I will admit that I don't normally gravitate to clothing patterns (even though I love chunky knits) but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed making this. I mean, I REALLY enjoyed making this - It's made me think about making more clothing, maybe even something for myself!
The pattern was easy to read and simple to make up. For Lulu I made the biggest size (age 4-6 years) which I knew would be (and is) a bit big for her but I felt the expense of the wool warranted an item that would have a few years in it. When I tried it on her as I was making it up she made the comment that it was 'tickly' I know from experience with my sensitive lot that 'tickly' can end up being 'itchy' so I'm happy its bigger as it means she can wear it over several layers - like a wooly jacket. I'm in Love!
It's the perfect cardigan for wandering down the lane...
...searching the hedgerows for blackberries...
...and bossing your brother about.
yes, definitely a good make-your-brother-pick-the-blackberries-while-you-eat-them kind of cardigan!
Gaahh ♥

What a lovely make. I like that it's too big for her too, it looks so snuggly. Just your colours too :-)
